Salary: £8.90 - 10.60 per hour
The Job:
Black & Black Social Care and Housing are recruiting for a Sheltered Housing Supervisor to provide support to service users, assisting them to live as independently as possible while protecting the vulnerable, promoting independence and social inclusion.

The Duties:
You will be responsible for the general communal maintenance, security and supervision of the complex. You will be required to communicate with various agencies and compile reports.

Duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate:
- Responsible for the security of the premises and its contents including the operation of alarms and keyholder responsibilities
- Create and update records and reports (paper / electronic) and contribute to client records and care plans
- Provide personal care to tenants as and when required
- Organise, collect and prepare basic meals for tenants in communal area.
- Supervise and assist with cleaning of the communal areas – internal and external, laundry, sitting room, toilets, windows and garden maintenance
- Supervise the removal of communal refuse and assist in the hygiene maintenance of refuse bins and the collection areas
- Maintain information facilities which keep tenants up to date with local events and activities.
- Provide an activity programme including meals, within the complex to prevent isolation, promote healthy living and encourage the use of communal facilities.
- Assist and supervise porterage.
- Assist in carrying out laundry tasks.
- Oversee communal lighting, heating and domestic appliances, ensuring temporary safety
- Undertake handyperson’s duties – minor repairs to communal fabric and furnishings including the replacement of light bulbs / tubes, curtains etc.
- Examine communal fittings, plumbing, laundry and water, report any faults, and take minor remedial action to avoid further damage.
- Secure and supervise communal cleaning materials and other building property
- Respond to alarm and no entry calls and advise tenants on their use.
- Act as facilitator for services e.g. Doctor, Nurse, Home Carers
- Provide practical assistance to tenants
- Routinely visit tenants and involve tenants and carers in the planning and provision of services
- Contribute to the care planning for tenants
- As part of the home care team to provide support to individuals tenants
- Monitor the individual social, housing and health needs of tenants
- Develop the support available from sheltered housing units to vulnerable people within the local community.
- Support the community alarm team by providing assistance in other complexes
- Undertake training as required
- Monitor and record information on a daily basis consistent with National Care Standards at Home and SSSC Code of Practice

Skills and experience required:

- Experience of providing personal care to elderly clients
- Experience of working with clients with a wide range of complex needs
- Experience of maintaining and creating relevant clear concise client care documents (both paper files & electronic)
- Have an awareness of basic health and safety requirements and a ability to promote safe working practices
- Level 2 SVQ in Social Care or other related Social Care Qualification
- Current driving licence

This role is expected to last until January - an immediate start for the right candidate. The successful applicant will be required to work 37 hours per week, pay rate £8.90 - 10.60 per hour.
