Leigh McDonald has been with the company since July 2017. Here she explains how she found the wonderful world of hospitality and here journey so far in recruitment.
Give us a bit of background about your journey so far…
I started out my career in the motor trade and soon realised it just wasn’t for me! I began doing some bar work in a local pub and I found I had a love for hospitality. I went on to become an Assistant Manager at various locations with Vintage Inns, Spirit Group and Belhaven. After a while, I felt something was missing. I have always loved sports so I looked for a job that incorporated Hospitality and Sports and was soon Managing a Rugby Club. I loved this role and spent 7 ½ years as Bar and Clubhouse Manager at West of Scotland FC.
Why did you join us and what attracted you to Primestaff?
I joined Primestaff in July 2017. I have a son and for a number of years of his life I worked unsociable hours and missed out on quite a lot. I wanted a job that I could still be involved with Hospitality but give me work-life balance. I had seen my post advertised and I thought it sounded great. Primestaff are partners with Glasgow Warriors and that really appealed to me – They just looked like a far superior agency to others I had come across.
What was the first thing you noticed that was different about working here?
The staff, everyone was friendly and you could see straight away that it was like a big family!
What difficulties do you encounter?
I LOVE a challenge so growing the Hospitality desk and moving out into different locations was a challenge I was ready for.
What is your favourite thing about Primestaff and why?
I honestly love everything about my job. I get to meet and speak to new people every day, no two days are the same and everyone here is great to work with. My family life has benefited greatly as well.
What are your long term career objectives?
To manage my own Hospitality Division across multiple sites. Every day Primestaff especially Fraser, pushes me to be the best I can be, wether it be sharing valuable information, motivating me when I’m having a bad day or the daily training and advice I get from everyone at Primestaff. The support from everyone is fantastic.
What advice would you give to someone considering Recruitment?
